Some of the tomatoes that were long awaited to ripen, and that we've now learned you have to pick before they are completely ripe to keep them from being eaten by little animals, aarrgghh!

Borcht, it's a bright mouthful of beats and dill. This was kind of fun for me to see the process from start to finish, and enjoy the cold soup. A bit cheezy, I know, but it was a long process, and I'd never done it before, and you never know how recipes will turn out in that situation . . . We just had to include this as a shout out to brothers Joseph and Andrew who served their missions in Russia, hopefully it lived up to your standards! You'll have to come by and try it and let us know :)

Veggie pizza with Ricotta cheese. I just thought the pizza was pretty with all it's bright colors. This one had some of the banana peppers that have cross pollinated with hot peppers. The kids thought it was a little hot, but Jeff and I thought it was just right. This picture was taken before cooking.

And finally, open-faced cheese sandwhiches with blackened greenbeans and garlic on the side. We weren't sure what to have for dinner that day, and had a few veggies and bread, and to me this is what summer is all about, sandwhiches with all veggies, and maybe a little salt and pepper. Good stuff.
As many of you know, this is the first time we've been able to have a garden in the ground. We are thankful for the opportunity to see what grows and loving the adventure. We've been having fun with new recipes and ingredients that are not always on our table, and trying to keep rodents and bugs away from the harvest. Here are a few of the dishes we've come up with.

Yum!! That pizza looks amazing. And I can't believe you guys already have ripe tomatoes! We were so excited to see that we finally have a few blossoms on our plants. Lucky!
