Fathers and Sons 2009

Last year, we were in Oregon for the Fathers and Sons camp out, so Benjamin and I went on our own. This year, since we were in Durham, we went with the Stake to the Falls Lake Stake park. It was a lot of fun. Benjamin and I got there early in the afternoon and were able to help with starting the fire for our little group. Benjamin and I had tinfoil dinners that tasted great after cooking for a while. There was a nice presentation on the restoration of the priesthood and a fire right next to the lake. Afterwards we had s'mores and talked while the boys played at the fire. I think if Benjamin had his way he would have stayed at the fire the whole time.

The events of Saturday were me trying to catch some fish (and only succeeding in loosing lures) and then breakfast made by the stake leaders. On the way back to our tent, we were informed that there was a visitor in the bathroom-hence the picture of the little baby possum.

After taking down the camp, Joel Galbraith and Drew let us go fishing with them one more time. After Joel caught two fish on his first two casts using spinners, he was kind enough to let Benjamin and I use two of his lures. While he continued to catch another 10 fish, Benjamin was happy to catch one and I caught another four. It was a lot of fun, and I was grateful for the teaching he gave me (and yes, I did bring the fish home to cook with Kathleen and the girls, there was enough for four bites of fish).

It was a lot of fun, I was glad to be able to go with you Benjamin. I look forward to next year.
